Ready for a rarity? How about a book about innovation, written by a real-world innovator, with a compelling perspective on...innovation. A triptych like this doesn't come around very often, which is one of the many reasons I was excited to be interviewed by Saleema Vellani for her forthcoming book, Innovation Begins with I. You can check out her impressive bio at her Innovazing website, but suffice to say she has launched growing ventures in four different countries — and done innovation consulting with leaders and organizations all over the world — and is bringing those experiences and insights to bear on her new book. I think her central thesis — which focuses on the personal, individual aspects of innovation, rather than big-picture systems and the mechanics of setting up lavish innovation teams, labs, and funds — addresses what can be an important impediment to real-world innovation.
After our discussion this week, I can't wait to read Saleema's book, and I’m especially looking forward to reading what thought leaders Steve Blank and Alexander Osterwalder discussed with Saleema.
